Very expected game when 10th ranked Niigata R. (1-13) was smashed by second ranked Fujitsu RW (12-2) in Tokyo 67-47 on Sunday. The game without a history. Fujitsu RW led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata R. to just 7 points in first quarter. Fujitsu RW dominated down low during the game scoring 34 of its points in the paint compared to Niigata R.'s 14. It was an exceptional evening for the former international forward Ai Mitani (182-78) who led the winners and scored 20 points. point guard Mio Shinozaki (167-91) accounted for 15 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. The former international guard Hiromi Iwamura (168-81) came up with 12 points and 8 rebounds and swingman Sangi Kanade (169-86) added 12 points respectively for Niigata R. in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for Fujitsu RW. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Denso Iris. Niigata R. lost their tenth game in a row. They keep the tenth place with 13 games lost. Fujitsu RW will meet at home Aishin Wings (#8) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Niigata R.'s supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will face at home their local rival from Tokyo Haneda Vickies.
