Regular Season Round 15: Denso Iris - Mitsubishi K. 66-55

WJBL top team - Denso Iris (12-2) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-6) in Kariya 66-55. The game was mostly controlled by Denso Iris. Mitsubishi K. was better in third quarter 16-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Denso Iris dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Mitsubishi K.'s 28. They brought some defensive toughness making 8 blocks. It was a great evening for the former international power forward Maki Takada (183-89) who led her team to a victory scoring 16 points and 8 rebounds. International guard Minami Iju (168-90) helped adding 14 points and 4 assists. The best for the losing side was international swingman Aya Watanabe (170-92) with 24 points and 8 rebounds and guard Yasuko Hashimoto (163-82) scored 16 points and 6 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Denso Iris have an impressive series of six victories in a row. They maintain first place with 12-2 record, which they share with Fujitsu RW. Mitsubishi K. at the other side keeps the sixth position with six games lost. Denso Iris will play against Chanson V-M (#5) in Shizuoka in the next round. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round.
