The most exciting game of round 13 in the NBB took place in Mogi das Cruzes. This derby game ended with only one-point home defeat of 6th ranked Mogi (7-4) to seventh ranked Sao Jose/Vinac (8-5) 89-88 on Monday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Mogi. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 89-88. Sao Jose/Vinac made 20-of-24 free shots (83.3 percent) during the game. American guard Andre Laws (188-80, college: San Diego) stepped up and scored 26 points and 5 assists (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners and the former international Dede Stefanelli (196-84) chipped in 17 points. Four Sao Jose/Vinac players scored in double figures. At the losing side the former international center Paulo Prestes (211-88) responded with 14 points and 6 rebounds and naturalized American Shamell Stallworth (195-80, college: USF, agency: Interperformances) scored 12 points. Mogi's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Sao Jose/Vinac moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Vivo/Franca. Mogi at the other side dropped to the seventh position with four games lost. Sao Jose/Vinac is looking forward to face Vivo/Franca (#6) in Sao Paulo in the next round. Mogi will play at home against the league's second-placed Paschoalotto/Bauru and is hoping to win this game.
