Very important is a road loss of second ranked Maccabi Ramat Hen (7-3) against sixth ranked ASA Jerusalem (5-5) on Monday night. Visiting Maccabi Ramat Hen was defeated by ASA Jerusalem in a tough game in Jerusalem 71-77. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Maccabi Ramat Hen. Maccabi Ramat Hen was ahead by 4 points after three quarters before a 24-14 charge of ASA Jerusalem, which allowed them to win the game. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Maccabi Ramat Hen's 38. ASA Jerusalem forced 24 Maccabi Ramat Hen turnovers and had a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Americans were the main players on the court. Ashley Shields (180-85, college: SW Tenn.St.CC) notched 28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and forward Amanda Thompson (183-87, college: Oklahoma) supported her with 15 points, 9 rebounds, 6 assists and 4 steals. Four ASA Jerusalem players scored in double figures. Even a double-double of 22 points and 11 rebounds by forward Kayla Thornton (185-92, college: UTEP) did not help to save the game for Maccabi Ramat Hen. Guard Rebekah Gardner (185-90, college: UCLA) added 20 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for lost side. ASA Jerusalem have a solid four-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with H.R. Le-Zion. Maccabi Ramat Hen at the other side keeps the second position with three games lost. They share it with Elitzur Ramla. ASA Jerusalem will play against Hap.Petah Tikva (#7) at home in the next round. Maccabi Ramat Hen will play against the league's leader Maccabi Ashdod (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
