The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Beijing Great Wall (15-4) in Guangzhou on Tuesday night. Visitors were edged by sixth ranked Guangdong Dolphins (8-10) in overtime 74-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Beijing Great Wall. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 9-6. It was a great evening for international center Dong Yu (195-93) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds and 6 assists. American center Aneika Henry (193-86, college: Florida) helped adding 15 points and 12 rebounds. Five Guangdong Dolphins players scored in double figures. American center Brittney Griner (203-90, college: Baylor) responded with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 10 rebounds and the former international forward Fan Zhang (188-84) scored 16 points and 5 rebounds. Guangdong Dolphins maintains sixth place with 8-10 record. Beijing Great Wall at the other side still keeps top position with four games lost. Guangdong Dolphins are looking forward to face higher ranked Bayi Kylin (#5) in Yinzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Beijing Great Wall will play on the road against Jiangsu Phoenix (#4) in Yixing and is hoping to win this game.
