Regular Season Round 23: Qingdao E. - Guangdong ST 100-120

The game in Qingdao supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Guandong Tigers (19-3) played at the court of 6th ranked Qingdao Eagles (15-7). Guandong Tigers did not have too big problems and got a relatively easy victory 120-100 on Wednesday. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Qingdao Eagles. The game was mostly controlled by Guandong Tigers. Qingdao Eagles managed to win fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Guandong Tigers made 29-of-35 free shots (82.9 percent) during the game, while Qingdao Eagles only scored eleven points from the stripe. They outrebounded Qingdao Eagles 36-25 including a 27-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Guandong Tigers shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. It was an exceptional evening for American point guard Will Bynum (183-83, college: Georgia Tech, agency: Priority Sports) who led the winners and scored 20 points and 8 assists. International Jianlian Yi (212-87) accounted for 24 points and 6 rebounds for the winning side. Five Guandong Tigers players scored in double figures. Forward Kai Chen (205-88) came up with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and swingman Chengyu Zhang (193-89) added 21 points and 4 assists respectively for Qingdao Eagles in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Guandong Tigers. They maintain second place with 19-3 record having five points less than leader Liaoning H. Loser Qingdao Eagles dropped to the seventh position with seven games lost. Guandong Tigers will meet at home Fujian (#16) in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Qingdao Eagles will play against Bayi Rockets (#19) in Ningbo and hope to secure a win.
