Regular Season Round 21: Hitachi SR - Tsukuba R. 80-58

NBL top team - Hitachi Sunrockers (20-5) had no problems winning another game. This time they crushed seventh ranked Tsukuba R. (0-24) in Tokyo 80-58. It looked good early as Tsukuba R. took an 3-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Hitachi Sunrockers had a 22-6 second period charge getting the lead and Tsukuba R. was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 58-80. Hitachi Sunrockers dominated on the defensive end, holding Tsukuba R. to just 6 points in second quarter. It was a good game for Qatari-American guard Trey Johnson (196-84, college: Jackson St.) who led his team to a victory with 19 points and 8 rebounds. American forward Ira Brown (193-82, college: Gonzaga) contributed with 8 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. American power forward Justin Reynolds (206-88, college: Texas A&M-CC) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and the other American import forward Duke Crews (203-88, college: Bowie St.) added 10 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Tsukuba R.Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Hitachi Sunrockers maintains first place with 20-5 record. Tsukuba R. at the other side still closes the standings with 24 games lost. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
