Regular Season Round 15: Strasbourg - Rouen 77-68

Rather expected game when 5th ranked SPO Rouen (8-7) was defeated on the road by third ranked Strasbourg IG (12-3) 77-68 on Friday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Strasbourg IG dominated on the defensive end, holding SPO Rouen to just 4 points in third quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to SPO Rouen's 24 and made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. It was a great evening for American Matt Howard (203-89, college: Butler) who led his team to a victory scoring 21 points and 8 rebounds. The former international Mickael Gelabale (215-83, agency: Three Eye Sports) helped adding 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Four Strasbourg IG players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American forward Sean May (206-84, college: N.Carolina) with 16 points and 8 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) and the other American import point guard Michael Thompson (177-89, college: Northwestern) scored 25 points. Strasbourg IG keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Limoges and Nanterre. Newly promoted SPO Rouen keeps the fifth place with seven games lost. They share the position with 4 other teams. Strasbourg IG will meet SO Maritime Boulogne (#17) in the next round which should be an easy win for them. SPO Rouen will play against Sluc Nancy (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
