Regular Season Round 21: Tochigi Brex - Toyota Alvark 76-99

Date: December 27, 2014
Very important is a home loss of second ranked Tochigi Brex (16-7) against fifth ranked Toyota Alvark (13-8) on Saturday night. Host Tochigi Brex was crushed by Toyota Alvark in Tochigi 99-76. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Tochigi Brex. It looked good early as Tochigi Brex took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Toyota Alvark had a 29-12 second period charge getting the lead and Tochigi Brex was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 76-99. It was a great shooting night for Toyota Alvark especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 68.8 percentage. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. The former international guard Keijuro Matsui (188-85, college: Columbia) nailed 23 points for the winning side and the former international forward Daiki Tanaka (191-91) accounted for 22 points. Four Toyota Alvark players scored in double figures. American center Kyle Barone (208-89, college: Idaho) came up with a double-double by scoring 22 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field) and the other American import power forward Ryan Rossiter (204-89, college: Siena) added 14 points and 12 rebounds respectively for Tochigi Brex in the defeat. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark moved-up to fourth place. Tochigi Brex at the other side keeps the second position with seven games lost. Toyota Alvark will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Tochigi Brex will play again at home against Toyota Alvark and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
