Date: December 27, 2014
There was no surprise when 5th ranked Aomori Watts (14-11) were defeated on the road by first ranked Akita Happinets (21-4) 75-66 on Saturday. The game without a history. Akita Happinets led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. Aomori Watts were plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) stepped up and scored 20 points and 9 rebounds for the winners and his fellow American import swingman Richard Roby (198-85) chipped in 19 points and 6 rebounds. Four Akita Happinets players scored in double figures. Law) produced a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Aomori Watts' coach Koshirashi Munakata rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the eighth consecutive win for Akita Happinets. They maintain first place with 21-4 record, which they share with Iwate Big Bulls and Kyoto Hannar. Loser Aomori Watts dropped to the sixth position with 11 games lost. Akita Happinets will face again Aomori Watts (#6) at home in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game.
