Regular Season Round 21: Mitsubishi DD - Aishin SH 83-75

The most crucial game of the last round was the first loss of Aishin Sea Horses (19-1) in Nagoya on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by second ranked Mitsubishi Dolphins (16-6) 83-75. It ended at the same time the 19-game winning streak of Aishin Sea Horses. It may be a crucial game in the contest for the top position in the league. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 25-16. But Aishin Sea Horses won third quarter 19-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi Dolphins dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Aishin Sea Horses' 34. Senegalese-French forward Amath M'Baye (206-89, college: Oklahoma) stepped up and scored 30 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and the former international guard Kei Igarashi (180-80) chipped in 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international center J.R. Sakuragi (206-76, college: UCLA) with 24 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international point guard Shinsuke Kashiwagi (183-81) scored 10 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Mitsubishi Dolphins have a solid series of four victories in a row. They maintain second place with 16-6 record having just one point less than leader Hitachi SR. Aishin Sea Horses at the other side still keep top position with one game lost. Mitsubishi Dolphins are again looking forward to face league's leader Aishin Sea Horses in Kariya in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Aishin Sea Horses will have a break next round.
