Rather predictable result in Kanagawa where third ranked Toshiba Thunders (14-8) defeated 6th ranked Hokkaido L. (5-19) 84-70. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when Toshiba Thunders's pressure prevailed and they won that period 26-16 extending their advantage to 14 points. They made 25-of-28 charity shots (89.3 percent) during the game, while Hokkaido L. only scored nine points from the stripe. They outrebounded Hokkaido L. 38-26 including 24 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward Nick Fazekas (211-85, college: Nevada) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. His fellow American import guard Cedric Bozeman (198-83, college: UCLA) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Four Toshiba Thunders players scored in double figures. American forward Jerome Tillman (201-87, college: Ohio, agency: KMG Sports Management) answered with 12 points and 8 rebounds and Takanobu Nishikawa added 15 points in the effort for Hokkaido L.Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Defending champion maintains third place with 14-8 record having three points less than leader Hitachi SR. Hokkaido L. at the other side keeps the sixth position with 19 games lost. Toshiba Thunders' next round opponent will be again Hokkaido L. (#6) in Saporro.
