Regular Season Round 25: Gunma - Fukuoka Rizing 87-79 OT

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both ninth ranked Gunma and 9th ranked Fukuoka Rizing had identical 6-16 record. This time Gunma used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from Fukuoka 87-79 on Saturday night. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 23-13. But Fukuoka Rizing won second period 23-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening, at least not yet. The game turned upside-down in the last quarter, where Fukuoka Rizing used huge pressure winning it 16-13 getting a tie at the end of regular time. They lost eventually overtime period 10-18. Americans were the main players on the court. Forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) stepped up and scored 28 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in 17 points and 6 rebounds. Gunma's coach Charlie Parker used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. At the losing side forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) responded with 21 points and 9 rebounds and power forward Cyrus Tate (203-85, college: Iowa) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Gunma (7-16) moved-up to eighth place. Loser Fukuoka Rizing dropped to the tenth position with 17 games lost. Gunma will face again Fukuoka Rizing (#10) at home in the next round.
