A very interesting game took place in San Sebastian. It ended with only two-point defeat on the road of higher ranked Valencia Basket (7-6) to sixteenth ranked Gipuzkoa (4-9) 69-67 on Saturday evening. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 21-12. But Valencia Basket won second period 18-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Gipuzkoa won last quarter 22-21. Center David Doblas (206-81) fired 19 points for the winners. American-Irish swingman Will Hanley (201-90, college: Bowdoin, agency: Duran International) chipped in 14 points and 8 rebounds. Belgian point guard Sam Van Rossom (188-86) produced 16 points and 5 assists and Serbian Vladimir Lucic (202-89, agency: Beo Basket) added 13 points and 5 rebounds respectively for lost side. Four Valencia Basket players scored in double figures. Valencia Basket's coach tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Gipuzkoa moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Estudiantes. Valencia Basket at the other side dropped to the sixth position with six games lost. Gipuzkoa's next round opponent will be Baloncesto Fuenlabrada (#16) in Madrid.
