There was an upset when second-best Shanghai Octopus (14-5) were defeated at home by seventh ranked Shenyang Golden Lions (8-11) 83-75 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 1 point after three quarters before their 28-19 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Shenyang Golden Lions forced 19 Shanghai Octopus turnovers. The best player for the winners was international forward Meng Li (185-95) who scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. International forward Shuang Zhao (188-90) chipped in a double-double by scoring 16 points and 12 rebounds. Four Shenyang Golden Lions players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who recorded 30 points and 8 rebounds and the former international center Zeng Mei-Ling (191-88) added 15 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Shenyang Golden Lions moved-up to sixth place in Places 1-8, which they share with Guangdong. Shanghai Octopus lost third consecutive game. They keep the second position with five games lost. Shenyang Golden Lions will have a break next round. Shanghai Octopus will play again at home against Shenyang Golden Lions and hope to win that game.
