United (#4) forced the game against Perth Wildcats (#3) into an overtime, but lost by one point 80-81 on Sunday night. The game took place in Melbourne. But the guests from Perth were better at the end. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of United. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime then United managed to tie the game at the end of regular time. However that was Perth Wildcats who were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-9. Perth Wildcats outrebounded United 47-34 including 33 on the defensive glass. It was a good game for American forward DeAndre Daniels (206-92, college: Connecticut) who saved his team from a defeat with a double-double by scoring 18 points, 13 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international power forward Matthew Knight (204-85, college: Loyola Mary) contributed with 18 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American guard Stephen Dennis (198-87, college: Kutztown) replied with 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international power forward Daniel Kickert (208-83, college: St.Mary's, CA) added 10 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for United. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. United's coach Chris Anstey rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Defending champion maintains third position with 11-5 record having 2 victories less than leader Breakers. United at the other side keeps the fourth place with eight games lost. Perth Wildcats will face bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (#8) in Gwynneville in the next round where they are favorite. United will play on the road against Kings (#5) in Sydney and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
