Regular Season Round 26: Gunma - Fukuoka Rizing 84-80 OT

Rather predictable result when eighth ranked Gunma (8-16) beat at home 10th ranked Fukuoka Rizing (6-18) 84-80 on Sunday. Fukuoka Rizing was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 25-23 charge of Gunma, which allowed them to tie the game at the end of regular time. They were better in overtime eventually winning that period 10-6. The game was also dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Carlos Dixon (201-81, college: Virginia Tech) who scored 30 points. Swingman Marcus Morrison (198-84, college: Middle Tenn.St.) chipped in a double-double by scoring 13 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Gunma players scored in double figures. Forward Josh Peppers (201-85, college: Cent.Florida, agency: Court Side) produced 41 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds and power forward Kirk Van Slyke (208-89, college: Arkansas St., agency: KMG Sports Management) added 21 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. Gunma have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Oita H.Devils. Loser Fukuoka Rizing keeps the tenth position with 18 games lost. Gunma will have a break next round. Fukuoka Rizing will play on the road against Shiga L-Stars (#5) and hope to win that game.
