Round 26 in BJ League means a new league leader. The biggest surprise took place in Iwate where host Iwate Big Bulls (22-4) beat league's leader Kyoto Hannar. (21-5) 76-72 on Sunday evening. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Kyoto Hannar. won third quarter 21-11. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Iwate Big Bulls made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. The game was dominated by American players. The best player for the winners was forward Scootie Randall (198-90, college: Temple) who scored 21 points. Forward Lawrence Blackledge (206-86, college: Marquette) chipped in 9 points and 8 rebounds. Blackledge is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Forward Kevin Kotzur (203-89, college: St.Mary's, TX) produced a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds and forward David Palmer (201-82, college: S.Utah) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively for the guests. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Iwate Big Bulls keep a position of league leader, which they share with Akita NH. Kyoto Hannar. at the other side dropped to the second place with five games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Akita NH. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.
