The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 73-64. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) scored 21 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international Hector Hernandez (205-85, college: Fresno St.) chipped in 14 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Pioneros' coach Manuel Cintron used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Eugene Phelps (198-90, college: Long Beach St.) responded with 14 points and 9 rebounds and his fellow American import point guard Demontez Stitt (187-89, college: Clemson) scored 14 points and 5 assists. Four Fuerza Regia players scored in double figures. Pioneros have an impressive five-game winning streak. They moved-up to third place. Loser Fuerza Regia dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Pioneros will meet at home Correcaminos (#11) in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Fuerza Regia will play against Gansos (#14) in Ciudad de Mexico and hope to secure a win.
