Regular Season Round 26: Panteras - Barreteros 94-83
Date: December 29, 2014
There was no surprise in Aguascalientes where 13th ranked Barreteros (5-18) were defeated by ninth ranked Panteras (10-13) 94-83. The game was mostly controlled by Panteras. Barreteros was better in third quarter 26-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Panteras players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) notched a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead the effort and Puerto Rican point guard Ricardo Melendez (179-83) supported him with 19 points and 6 assists. Even 22 points, 7 rebounds and 9 assists by American center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) did not help to save the game for Barreteros. His fellow American import Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) added 12 points for the guests. Four Barreteros players scored in double figures. Barreteros' coach Jesus Alba tested twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Panteras maintains ninth position with 10-13 record. Newly promoted Barreteros keep the thirteenth place with 18 games lost. Panteras' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Halcones UV Xalapa on the road and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Barreteros will play against the league's leader Halcones Rojos (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
