Very expected game when 17th ranked Aix-Maurienne (3-12) was rolled over on the road by sixth ranked Denain Voltaire (10-5) 110-60 on Tuesday. The game was mostly controlled by Denain Voltaire. Aix-Maurienne was better in third quarter 17-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Aix-Maurienne 40-26 including a 29-16 advantage in defensive rebounds. Denain Voltaire shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 51.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists comparing to just 6 passes made by Aix-Maurienne's players. The best player for the winners was naturalized Ghanian guard Billy Ouattara (191-92) who scored 22 points (on 9-of-11 shooting from the field). Benoit Gillet (191-86) chipped in 19 points. Four Denain Voltaire players scored in double figures. Denain Voltaire's coach Jean-Christophe Prat felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to get some rest. At the other side the best for losing team was American Markel Humphrey (198-86, college: Marshall, agency: Three Eye Sports) who recorded 16 points and 5 rebounds and the other American import power forward Warren Carter (205-85, college: Illinois) added 14 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Denain Voltaire moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Orchy. Aix-Maurienne lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the seventeenth position with 12 games lost. Denain Voltaire will face bottom-ranked Angers BC (#18) at home in the next round which should be another easy win for them. Aix-Maurienne will play against Orchesien BC and hope to win that game.
