Twentieth-ranked Chongqing FD (3-23) used its home court advantage to challenge eighth ranked DongGuan Leopards (16-9) in Guangzhou on Wednesday. The visitors from DongGuan managed to secure only one-point victory 115-114. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 5-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 115-114. DongGuan Leopards made 30-of-39 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. American point guard Bobby Brown (188-84, college: CS Fullerton) notched 44 points (!!!) and 7 assists to lead the effort and international forward QuAn Gu (202-92) supported him with 21 points and 5 rebounds. DongGuan Leopards' coach Brian Goorjian used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 37 points (!!!) by American point guard Willie Warren (193-89, college: Oklahoma, agency: Interperformances) did not help to save the game for Chongqing FD. Iranian Arsalan Kazemi (200-90, college: Oregon) added 10 points and 15 rebounds for the hosts. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. DongGuan Leopards have a solid four-game winning streak. They maintain eighth position with 16-9 record. Chongqing FD lost twelfth consecutive game. Newly promoted team stay dead last with 23 lost games. DongGuan Leopards will meet at home higher ranked Shanxi Zhongyu (#3) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Chongqing FD will play against the league's second-placed Guandong Tigers (#2) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
