Adelaide 36ers (7-11) outlasted Cairns Taipans (13-6) in overtime by seven points 84-77 on Wednesday night. The game took place in Cairns. But the guests from Findon were better at the end. Adelaide 36ers looked well-organized offensively handing out 25 assists. The former international Brock Motum (207-90, college: Washington St.) stepped up and scored 27 points (made all of his nine free throws !!!) for the winners and swingman Mitch Creek (195-92) chipped in 16 points and 8 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Torrey Craig (198-90, college: USC Upstate) responded with 16 points and 8 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) and the other American import guard Scottie Wilbekin (188-92, college: Florida) scored 14 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. Cairns Taipans' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Adelaide 36ers have a solid series of three victories in a row. They maintain sixth place with 7-11 record. Cairns Taipans at the other side dropped to the second position with six games lost. Adelaide 36ers will face higher ranked United (#4) in Melbourne in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Cairns Taipans will play on the road against Townsville Crocodiles in Wulguru and hope to win that game.
