There was a small surprise when sixth ranked Qingdao Eagles (18-7) beat one of their biggest challengers Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (18-8) in Hangzhou 111-106 on Wednesday. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions trailed by 15 points after 3 quarters before a 35-25 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 106-111 at the end of the game. Qingdao Eagles made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions were plagued by 25 personal fouls down the stretch. American point guard Justin Dentmon (183-85, college: Washington, agency: Comsport) orchestrated the victory by scoring 48 points (!!!), 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks for the winners. Taiwanese guard Zhijie Lin (192-82) replied with a double-double by scoring 36 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and American power forward Elijah Holman (208-89, college: Detroit Mercy) added 20 points and 18 rebounds in the effort for Zhejiang Guangsha Lions. Four Zhejiang Guangsha Lions players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Qingdao Eagles have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to fifth place. Loser Zhejiang Guangsha Lions dropped to the sixth position with eight games lost. Qingdao Eagles will face higher ranked Beijing Ducks (#4) at home in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Zhejiang Guangsha Lions will play against Fujian in Jinjiang and hope to win that game.
