Regular Season Round 27: Foshan LL - Zhejiang CB 146-142 OT

Sixteenth-ranked Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank (7-20) gave a tough game to tenth ranked Foshan (14-13) on Friday. Foshan managed to secure only four-point victory 146-142. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts were tied at the half and again at the end of regular time. But they managed to win overtime period 17-13. Foshan made 41-of-48 free shots (85.4 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The best player for the winners was Lebanese swingman Fadi Khatib (199-79) who scored 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 6 assists. Nigerian-American point guard Josh-Emmanuel Akognon (180-86, college: CS Fullerton) chipped in 35 points (!!!), 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals (went 14 for 14 at the free throw line !!!). At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Charles Gaines (201-81, college: S.Mississippi) who recorded a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and the other American import point guard Errick McCollum (185-88, college: Goshen) added 36 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 7 assists (went 19 for 19 at the free throw line !!!) respectively. Five Foshan and four Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank players scored in double figures. Foshan maintains tenth place with 14-13 record. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank lost their third game in a row. They dropped to the fifteenth position with 20 games lost. They share it with Fujian QB. Foshan will meet at home higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#5) in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Zhejiang Chouzhou Bank will play against Sichuan BW (#19) and hope to secure a win.
