Regular Season Round 13: Crocodiles - Taipans 75-79

Rather predictable result in Wulguru where third ranked Cairns Taipans (13-6) defeated 7th ranked Townsville Crocodiles (6-12) 79-75 on Saturday. The guests trailed by 9 points after first quarter, but they rallied back and won the game by 4 points. The former international power forward Alexander Loughton (206-83, college: ODU) stepped up and scored 22 points and 5 rebounds for the winners and the former international power forward Cameron Tragardh (209-83, college: ORU) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds. Four Cairns Taipans players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Brian Conklin (198-89, college: St.Louis) responded with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 11 rebounds and the other American import center Mickell Gladness (211-86) scored 8 points and 7 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Cairns Taipans moved-up to second place. Townsville Crocodiles at the other side keep the seventh position with 12 games lost. Cairns Taipans will face Perth Wildcats (#3) at home in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Townsville Crocodiles will play again against the league's second-placed Cairns Taipans (#2) and hope to win that game.
