Regular Season Round 27: Halc.Rojos - Barreteros 97-78

Leader Halcones Rojos delivered the twenty second win on Saturday night. This time they crushed 13th ranked Barreteros (5-19) 97-78 in Veracruz. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Barreteros managed to win fourth quarter 22-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones Rojos looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The best player for the winners was Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) who scored 13 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 13 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Jerome Habel (208-85, college: San Diego St.) who recorded 21 points and 8 rebounds and the other American import Devon Pearson (198-84, college: SMU) added 20 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Halcones Rojos (22-3) have an impressive series of fifteen victories in a row. They maintain first place. Newly promoted Barreteros keep the thirteenth position with 19 games lost. Halcones Rojos are looking forward to face Panteras (#9) in Aguascalientes in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Barreteros will play on the road against the league's second-placed Halcones UV Xalapa (#2) and are hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
