Sixth-ranked Guangdong Dolphins (8-13) gave a tough game to fourth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (14-7) in Guangzhou on Saturday. The visitors from Yixing managed to secure only seven-point victory 71-64. However their fans expected easier game. Guangdong Dolphins trailed by 12 points after 3 quarters before a 18-6 run in the last quarter tied the game at the end of regular time, But then they lost eventually overtime period 8-15. Jiangsu Phoenix dominated on the defensive end, holding Guangdong Dolphins to just 7 points in first quarter. They outrebounded Guangdong Dolphins 51-31 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Jiangsu Phoenix maintains fourth position with 14-7 record. Guangdong Dolphins lost third consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 13 games lost. Jiangsu Phoenix will face league's second-placed Shanghai Octopus at home in the next round and it may be the game of the week. Guangdong Dolphins will play against Heilongjiang Chenneng (#8) in Harbin and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
