Regular Season Round 27: Pioneros - Correcaminos 92-62

There was no surprise in Cancun where 11th ranked Correcaminos (9-18) were crushed by third ranked Pioneros (18-6) 92-62 on Saturday. The game without a history. Pioneros led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 9 passes made by Correcaminos' players. It was a great evening for American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). The former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) helped adding 14 points. Four Pioneros players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was American swingman Kevin Parrom (198-91, college: Arizona) with 16 points and 6 rebounds and the other American import power forward Mark Dawson (206-83, college: Long Beach St.) scored 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Pioneros. They maintain third place with 18-6 record having five points less than leader Halc.Rojos. Correcaminos lost their fourth game in a row. They keep the eleventh position with 18 games lost. Pioneros will meet at home Huracanes (#6) in the next round. Correcaminos will play against Gigantes (#12) in Toluca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
