Regular Season Round 15: Opentach Pla - Lucentum 82-78

The game between second ranked Meridiano Alicante (10-4) and fifteenth ranked Opentach Pla (2-12) was the most important one in the last round on Sunday night. Meridiano Alicante was defeated by Opentach Pla in a tough game in Marratxi 78-82. The hosts trailed by 2 points at the halftime before their 24-11 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Opentach Pla made 16-of-16 free shots (100 percent !!!) during the game. They also forced 19 Meridiano Alicante turnovers. It was a good game for American forward Ridge McKeither (198-88, college: Angelo St.) who led his team to a victory with 30 points and 8 rebounds. Power forward Alberto Ausina (203-81) contributed with a double-double by scoring 12 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Four Opentach Pla players scored in double figures. point guard Javier Hernandez (182-92) answered with 23 points and 4 assists and power forward Samuel Dominguez (204-91, college: La Palma) added 15 points (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field) in the effort for Meridiano Alicante. Meridiano Alicante's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Opentach Pla moved-up to fourteenth place, which they share with Araberri. Meridiano Alicante at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the second position with four games lost. They share it with Caceres and Guadalajara. Opentach Pla will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Meridiano Alicante will play on the road against CB Tarragona 2017 and is hoping to win this game.
