Rather expected game when 15th ranked VL Pesaro (3-11) was smashed at home by thirteenth ranked AV Cantu (6-8) 103-83 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by AV Cantu. VL Pesaro was better in fourth quarter 27-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AV Cantu shot 63.0 percent from the field and made 27-of-32 free shots (84.4 percent) during the game. VL Pesaro was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. International point guard Stefano Gentile (191-89) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Georgian center Giorgi Shermadini (216-89) contributed with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks for the winners. American forward LaQuinton Ross (203-92, college: Ohio St.) replied with 22 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import forward Juvonte Reddic (206-92, college: VCU) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for VL Pesaro. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AV Cantu moved-up to ninth place, which they share with Giorgo Tesi PT and Granarolo BO. VL Pesaro lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the fifteenth position with 11 games lost. AV Cantu will face Acea (#12) in Roma in the next round. VL Pesaro will play on the road against Juvecaserta in Caserta and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
