Regular Season Round 13: 36ers - Breakers 74-81

Very expected game in Findon where 6th ranked Adelaide 36ers (7-11) were defeated by first ranked New Zealand Breakers (14-5) 81-74 on Sunday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 26-20. But Adelaide 36ers won second period 24-21. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Cedric Jackson (191-86, college: Cleveland St.) stepped up and scored 16 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners and American-Fijian forward Tai Wesley (200-86, college: Utah St.) chipped in 18 points. Four New Zealand Breakers players scored in double figures. At the losing side American point guard Jamar Wilson (185-84, college: Albany) responded with 21 points and the former international Brock Motum (207-90, college: Washington St.) scored 19 points and 5 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. New Zealand Breakers maintains first place with 14-5 record. Adelaide 36ers at the other side keep the sixth position with 11 games lost. New Zealand Breakers will face bottom-ranked Wollongong Hawks (#8) in Gwynneville in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Adelaide 36ers will play on the road against United in Melbourne and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
