Regular Season Round 28: Gansos - Jefes 115-112

Date: January 5, 2015
Bottom-ranked Gansos managed to get a sixth victory, breaking the two-game losing streak. This time they edged seventh-ranked Jefes in Ciudad de Mexico 115-112. Jefes were ahead by 1 point at the halftime before a 33-20 third quarter run of Gansos. Gansos shot 43 for 59 from the free-throw line, while Jefes only scored twenty four points from the stripe. Gansos forced 20 Jefes turnovers. Their players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Jefes were plagued by 39 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of Garcia Edson who helped to win the game recording 34 points (!!!) and 8 rebounds and American guard Harrison Smith (190-87, college: Texas Southern) who added 33 points (!!!) and 6 rebounds during the contest. At the losing side American-Cape Verdean swingman B.J. Monteiro (195-90, college: Duquesne) responded with 26 points and 5 rebounds and American forward Jordan Glynn (200-89, college: SF Austin) produced a double-double by scoring 22 points and 10 rebounds. Four Gansos and five Jefes players scored in double figures. Jefes' coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Gansos (6-21) moved-up to thirteenth place. Newly promoted Jefes keep the seventh position with 13 games lost. Gansos will play against higher ranked Correcaminos (#12) in Ciudad Victoria in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Jefes will play on the road against Titanicos (#10) in Leon and hope to get back on the winning track.
