Regular Season Round 28: Halc.Rojos - Panteras 104-79

LNBP top team - Halcones Rojos (23-3) had no problems winning another game on Monday. This time they crushed ninth ranked Panteras (10-15) in Veracruz 104-79. The game was mostly controlled by Halcones Rojos. Panteras managed to win fourth quarter 26-25. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Halcones Rojos dominated down low during the game scoring 68 of its points in the paint compared to Panteras' 42. They outrebounded Panteras 43-30 including 29 on the defensive glass. The winners were led by Puerto Rican swingman David Huertas (195-87, college: Mississippi) who scored that evening 24 points and 6 rebounds and American forward Devin Ebanks (206-89, college: W.Virginia, agency: Interperformances) supported him with 19 points. Halcones Rojos' coach felt very confident that he used 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Even 18 points and 6 rebounds by Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) did not help to save the game for Panteras. Panamanian power forward Antonio Garcia (203-76, college: Ky Wesleyan) added 13 points and 11 rebounds for lost side. Four Halcones Rojos and five Panteras players scored in double figures. Halcones Rojos have an impressive 16-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 23-3 record. Loser Panteras keep the ninth place with 15 games lost. Halcones Rojos will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Panteras will play against Pioneros (#3) in Cancun and hope to secure a win.
