Regular Season Round 15: Petrochimi - Qazvin 94-60

Rather expected game in Bandar Imam where 5th ranked Qazvin (6-8) was crushed by third ranked Petrochimi (12-2) 94-60 on Monday. The game without a history. Petrochimi led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Qazvin to just 4 points in second quarter. Petrochimi dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Qazvin's 34 and made 25-of-33 free shots (75.8 percent) during the game. Petrochimi forced 23 Qazvin turnovers and outrebounded them 38-21 including a 25-9 advantage in defensive rebounds. Qazvin was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for international Mohammad Jamshidi (199-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 22 points (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line). International Behnam Yakhchali (197-95) helped adding 14 points and 5 rebounds. Four Petrochimi players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international center Mohammad Yousofvand (207-96) with 13 points and 7 rebounds and center Amir Esmaeil Taheri Kolahdooz (208-94) scored 8 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Petrochimi have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending champion maintains third place with 12-2 record behind leader Mahram. Qazvin at the other side keeps the fifth position with eight games lost. Petrochimi will face league's second-placed Azad in Tehran in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Qazvin will play on the road against Samen in Mash'had and hope to win that game.
