Not a big story in a game when 6th ranked ASA Jerusalem (5-7) lost on the road to top-ranked Maccabi Ashdod (12-0) 75-58 on Monday. The hosts trailed by 5 points at the halftime before their 43-21 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Maccabi Ashdod forced 22 ASA Jerusalem turnovers. It was a good game for naturalized American forward Alysha Clark (178-87, college: Middle Tenn.St.) who led her team to a victory with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. The former international point guard Laine Selwyn (170-81, college: Pittsburgh) contributed with 14 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Maccabi Ashdod players scored in double figures. American forward Amanda Thompson (183-87, college: Oklahoma) replied with a double-double by scoring 16 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and her fellow American import center Marie Malone (191-89, college: Hofstra) added 16 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for ASA Jerusalem. Maccabi Ashdod have an impressive 12-game winning streak. Defending champion maintains first position with 12-0 record. Newly promoted ASA Jerusalem keeps the sixth place with seven games lost. Maccabi Ashdod will face Hap.Petah Tikva (#6) at home in the next round where they are favorite. ASA Jerusalem will play against the league's second-placed Elitzur Ramla and hope to win that game.
