Regular Season Round 12: Elitzur Ramla - Hapoel G/A 91-96

There was no surprise when 14th ranked Elitzur Ramla (1-11) was defeated at home by third ranked Hapoel Afula (9-3) 96-91 on Tuesday. Elitzur Ramla was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. Hapoel Afula made 27-of-30 free shots (90.0 percent) during the game. They also forced 24 Elitzur Ramla turnovers and outrebounded them 32-21 including 24 on the defensive glass. Elitzur Ramla was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The best player for the winners was American guard Shannon Shorter (193-89, college: N.Texas) who scored 33 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 4 assists (went 11 for 11 at the free throw line !!!). Swingman Gilad Karni (195-87, agency: Avi Zilberman) chipped in 28 points and 5 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American forward Billy White (203-89, college: San Diego St.) who recorded 29 points and 7 rebounds and his fellow American import guard Ronald Davis (190-82, college: Wisc.-Milwaukee) added 24 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Four Elitzur Ramla players scored in double figures. Hapoel Afula moved-up to second place, which they share with Hapoel Migd.H. Elitzur Ramla lost seventh consecutive game. They stay at the bottom position with 11 games lost. Hapoel Afula will face Ironi Ashkelon (#8) at home in the next round where they are favorite. Elitzur Ramla will play against GreenTops Netanya (#7) and hope to win that game.
