Second Stage Round 15: Jiangsu - Shanghai 72-63

The game between second ranked Shanghai Octopus (15-7) and fourth ranked Jiangsu Phoenix (15-7) was the most important one in the last round on Tuesday night. Shanghai Octopus were defeated by Jiangsu Phoenix in a tough game in Yixing 63-72. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Shanghai Octopus won third quarter 19-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The best player for the winners was forward Yi Qiang (193-94) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 15 rebounds. Guard Na Jinwei (180-92) chipped in 10 points and 9 assists. Four Jiangsu Phoenix players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) who recorded a double-double by scoring 26 points and 13 rebounds and international forward Jing Huang (183-85) added 13 points and 7 rebounds respectively. Jiangsu Phoenix moved-up to second place, which they share with Shanghai and Shanxi. Jiangsu Phoenix is looking forward to face Heilongjiang Chenneng (#8) in Harbin in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Shanghai Octopus will play at home against the league's leader Beijing Great Wall (#1) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
