Regular Season Round 16: Pogon RS - Mickiewicz 78-72

There was a surprise result when eighth ranked Pogon RS (6-9) defeated higher ranked Mickiewicz (9-5) in Ruda Slaska 78-72 on Wednesday. The hosts were tied at the half but managed to speed up in last two quarters eventually winning the game. Pogon RS forced 19 Mickiewicz turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. Mickiewicz was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. Quite impressive performance for guard Adam Wilkin (194-83) who helped to win the game recording 11 points and 7 rebounds. Point guard Pawel Mol (180-87) contributed with 7 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists for the winners. Four Pogon RS players scored in double figures. Forward Michal Batorski (200-88) replied with 16 points and 9 rebounds and guard Jaroslaw Kolenda (190-86) added 12 points and 8 rebounds in the effort for Mickiewicz. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Pogon RS maintains eighth position in Group C with 6-9 record. Loser Mickiewicz keeps the fourth place with five games lost. Pogon RS will face Gimbasket Wroclaw (#11) on the road in the next round. Mickiewicz will play against MKS DG 2 (#9) and hope to win that game.
