Regular Season Round 23: Sundsvall - Nassjo 91-76

Date: January 7, 2015
Rather expected game when 8th ranked Nassjo (6-12) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Sundsvall Dragons (12-6) 91-76. Nassjo was ahead by 7 points at the halftime before a 57-35 second half run of Sundsvall Dragons. They shot the lights out from three nailing 18 long-distance shots on high 58.1 percentage. It was an exceptional evening for American swingman Akeem Wright (200-84, college: Kansas St.) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Icelandic point guard Aegir Steinarsson (185-91, college: Newberry, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) accounted for 12 points and 6 assists for the winning side. Wright is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Sundsvall Dragons' coach Tommie Hansson used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Wictor Grenthe (203-87) came up with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds and forward Mathias Liljeqvist (196-92) added 15 points (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!) respectively for Nassjo in the defeat. Both teams had five players each who scored in double figures. Sundsvall Dragons moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Uppsala. Nassjo at the other side keeps the eighth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Umea. Sundsvall Dragons will play against league's second-placed Sodertalje Kings on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Nassjo will play against Solna Vikings (#7) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
