Regular Season Round 24: Nitra - Iskra Svit 78-69

Bottom-ranked Nitra managed to get a third victory, breaking the four-game losing streak. This time they won against fifth-ranked Iskra Svit 78-69. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Iskra Svit won third quarter 20-18. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Nitra won last quarter 22-15. They made 16-of-20 charity shots (80.0 percent) during the game. Nitra outrebounded Iskra Svit 47-33 including a 34-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. The winners were led by American forward Justin Ward (203-91, college: Lakeland) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 18 rebounds and the former international Roman Vido (204-88) supported him with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Even a double-double of 26 points and 11 rebounds by American guard Lakeem Jackson (196-90, college: S.Carolina, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Iskra Svit. Croatian point guard Rudolf Jugo (183-84) added 12 points and 6 assists. Nitra maintains tenth position with 3-20 record. Iskra Svit at the other side keeps the fifth place with 13 games lost. Nitra will play against league's second-placed Prievidza on the road in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Iskra Svit will play against Nova Ves and hopes to get back on the winning track.
