Regular Season Round 12: Tindastoll - Stjarnan 91-82

An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Sauoarkrokur. Second ranked Tindastoll faced one of their biggest challengers Stjarnan. Host Tindastoll (10-2) defeated guests from Stjarnan (7-5) 91-82. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Stjarnan. Stjarnan was trailing by 3 points at halftime but managed to get 2-point lead after three quarters before a 28-17 charge of Tindastoll, which allowed them to win the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Myron Dempsey (203-91, college: Paul Quinn) who had a double-double by scoring 31 points and 11 rebounds. The former international guard Darrel Lewis (192-76, college: Lincoln, MO, agency: Two Points) chipped in 18 points and 8 assists. At the other side the best for losing team was the former international point guard Justin Shouse (181-81, college: Mercyhurst) who recorded 26 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists and American forward Jarrid Frye (196-85, college: Sacred Heart) added 13 points and 9 rebounds respectively. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Stjarnan's coach Hrafn Kristjansson rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Newly promoted Tindastoll maintains second position with 10-2 record having just two points less than leader KR. Stjarnan at the other side keeps the third place with five games lost. They share the position with Keflavik and Haukar. Tindastoll are looking forward to face Thor Thorl (#8) in Thorlakshofn in the next round where they are favorite. Stjarnan will play at home against Keflavik (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
