Regular Season Round 15: Pinheiros/Sky - Minas 89-78

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Minas (10-5) against ninth ranked Pinheiros (7-7) on Thursday night. Visiting Minas was defeated by Pinheiros in Sao Paolo 89-78. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Minas. The game was mostly controlled by Pinheiros. Minas was better in second period 24-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a great evening for point guard Jefferson Campos (191-91) who led his team to a victory scoring 23 points. The former international forward Marcus Vinicius Toledo (201-86) helped adding 13 points and 9 rebounds. The best for the losing side was American guard Robby Collum (185-81, college: W.Michigan) with 21 points and 4 assists and center Ralfi Ansaloni (211-87) scored 15 points and 9 rebounds. Five Pinheiros and four Minas players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Pinheiros maintains ninth place with 7-7 record. Minas at the other side keeps the third position with five games lost. Pinheiros will play against higher ranked Flamengo (#4) in Rio de Janeiro in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Minas will play at home against Sao Jose/Vinac and hopes to get back on the winning track.
