Regular Season Round 12: Grindavik - Haukar 94-80

We should mention about the upset which took place in Grindavik, where higher ranked Haukar (7-5) lost to ninth ranked Grindavik (5-7) in a road game 80-94. Haukar was ahead by 3 points at the halftime before a 53-36 second half run of Grindavik. The winners were led by American forward Rodney Alexander (201-87, college: Oklahoma City) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 26 points and 16 rebounds (on 12-of-15 shooting from the field) and guard Jon Axel Gudmundsson (192-96) supported him with 23 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Four Grindavik players scored in double figures. Grindavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Even a double-double of 30 points and 17 rebounds by American forward Alex Francis (198-91, college: Bryant, agency: Pro Partner Sports Management) did not help to save the game for Haukar. Guard Kari Jonsson (190-97) added 17 points, 5 assists and 5 steals. Grindavik have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain ninth position with 5-7 record. Haukar at the other side dropped to the third place with five games lost. Grindavik's next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Skallagrimur (#12) in Borgarnes. Haukar will play at home against Snaefell (#7) and hope to win that game.
