Regular Season Round 29: Pioneros - Panteras 107-88

Very predictable result in Cancun where third ranked Pioneros (20-6) smashed 9th ranked Panteras (10-16) 107-88. The game was mostly controlled by Pioneros. Panteras was better in fourth quarter 23-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Pioneros players were unselfish on offense dishing 31 assists. American-Puerto Rican point guard Denis Clemente (183-86, college: Kansas St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 25 points. American power forward Justin Keenan (202-88, college: Ferris St.) contributed with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Pioneros' coach Manuel Cintron used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Puerto Rican forward Carlos Lopez-Sosa (208-90, college: UNLV, agency: Paris Global Sports) answered with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists and guard Adrian Jesus Villalobos (183) added 18 points in the effort for Panteras. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Pioneros have an impressive series of eight victories in a row. They moved-up to second place. Panteras lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the tenth position with 16 games lost. Pioneros' next round opponent will be bottom-ranked Barreteros (#14) in Zacatecas which should be an easy win for them. Panteras will play on the road against Gigantes (#11) in Toluca and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
