Regular Season Round 12: Keflavik - Skallagrimur 78-75

Twelfth-ranked Skallagrimur (2-10) made lots of trouble for fifth ranked Keflavik (7-5) on Friday. Keflavik managed to secure only three-point victory 78-75. However their fans expected much easier game. The hosts trailed by 6 points at the halftime before their 30-17 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. Keflavik forced 24 Skallagrimur turnovers and had a 22-8 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of American guard Davon Usher (198-92, college: Delaware) who helped to win the game recording 25 points and 9 rebounds and guard Gudmundur Jonsson (191-84) who added 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists during the contest. Keflavik's coach Helgi Jonas Gudfinnsson used an eleven-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American forward Tracey Smith (203-89, college: N.Carolina St.) with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 12 rebounds and the former international swingman Pall Axel Vilbergsson (197-78) produced a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds. Four Skallagrimur players scored in double figures. Keflavik moved-up to third place, which they share with Haukar and Stjarnan. Loser Skallagrimur stay at the bottom position with ten games lost. They share it with IR and Fjolnir. Keflavik will meet Stjarnan (#4) on the road in the next round. Skallagrimur will play against Grindavik (#9) and hope to secure a win.
