There was a surprise result when ninth ranked Basic-Fit Brussels (4-9) outscored at home second-best Okapi Aalstar (9-5) 94-67 on Friday. The game was mostly controlled by Basic-Fit Brussels. Okapi Aalstar was better in second period 12-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Basic-Fit Brussels dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Okapi Aalstar's 32. Basic-Fit Brussels looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. The best player for the winners was the former international Aleksander Lichodzijewski (204-84) who had a double-double by scoring 15 points and 16 rebounds. American power forward Julian Gamble (207-89, college: Miami, FL) chipped in a double-double by scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds. Four Basic-Fit Brussels players scored in double figures. Basic-Fit Brussels' coach Serge Crevecoeur felt very confident that he used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was American point guard Rotnei Clarke (183-89, college: Butler) who recorded 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and the other American import Taylor Braun (201-91, college: N.Dakota St., agency: Priority Sports) added 13 points and 6 rebounds respectively. Basic-Fit Brussels maintains ninth place with 4-9 record. Loser Okapi Aalstar keeps the second position with five games lost. Basic-Fit Brussels will face league's leader Oostende on the road in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory.
