Second Stage Round 1: Pardaguava - VEF skola 68-80

Another exciting game was a derby match between two local teams from Riga: VEF skola (#6) and Pardaguava (#5). Pardaguava was defeated at home 68-80 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 80-68. VEF skola outrebounded Pardaguava 41-28 including a 31-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Anzejs Pasecniks (216-95, college: VEF skola) nailed a double-double by scoring 17 points and 12 rebounds for the winning side and center Karlis Silins (211-97) accounted for 14 points and 7 rebounds. Four VEF skola players scored in double figures. Guard Roberts Niedra (198-95) came up with 13 points and forward Janis Engers (200-95) added 13 points respectively for Pardaguava in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.
