Regular Season Round 12: Fjolnir - Snaefell 84-88

Date: January 9, 2015
No shocking result in a game in Reykjavik where seventh ranked Snaefell (6-6) defeated 10th ranked Fjolnir (2-10) 88-84. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Fjolnir helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The winners were led by American forward Chris Woods (195-89, college: Pfeiffer) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 13 rebounds and the former international forward Sigurdur Thorvaldsson (201-80) supported him with 23 points. Even 16 points and 9 rebounds by center Sindri Karason (205-89) did not help to save the game for Fjolnir. American forward Jonathan Mitchell (200-87, college: Rutgers, agency: KMG Sports Management) added 19 points. Five Fjolnir players scored in double figures. Fjolnir's coach Hjalti Vilhjalmsson tried various players' combinations and tested in total eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Snaefell moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Njardvik and Thor Thorl. Fjolnir lost fourth consecutive game. Newly promoted team keeps the tenth position with ten games lost. Snaefell's next round opponent will be higher ranked Haukar (#5) in Hafnarfjordur and it may be quite challenging game. Fjolnir will play on the road against Njardvik (#6) in Njardvik and hope to win that game.
