Regular Season Round 17: Clinicas Rincon - Palencia 48-77

Leader Palencia Baloncesto delivered the eleventh victory. This time they crushed 14th ranked Clinicas Rincon (4-12) 77-48 in Malaga. It looked good early as Clinicas Rincon took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Palencia Baloncesto had a 21-10 second period charge getting the lead and Clinicas Rincon was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 48-77. They outrebounded Clinicas Rincon 41-29 including a 27-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. Center Oliver Arteaga (208-83) orchestrated the victory by scoring 7 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. American swingman Quinn McDowell (195-90, college: William & Mary) contributed with 14 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Serbian power forward Kenan Karahodzic (209-96) answered with 19 points and naturalized Lithuanian forward Tautvydas Sabonis (203-92) added 9 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Clinicas Rincon. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Palencia Baloncesto have a solid series of four victories in a row. Palencia Baloncesto maintains first place with 11-4 record. Clinicas Rincon lost fourth consecutive game. They dropped to the thirteenth position with 12 games lost. They share it with Prat and Cocinas.com. Palencia Baloncesto will play against league's second-placed Ourense at home in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Clinicas Rincon will play against Lleida Basquet (#8) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
